According to Statistics Canada, residents of the maritime province south of New Brunswick ingested 27 grams of marijuana on average in 2017, more than either British Columbia (24.6 grams) or Alberta (24.1 grams).

Only a small number of the more than 100 outlets the NSLC runs in the province—about a dozen in Antigonish County, Wentworth, and Liverpool—will first sell cannabis.
