On March 31, 2021, Governor Andrew Cuomo authorized the Marihuana Regulation and Taxation Act. The law establishes two regulating organizations to regulate the sale and distribution of cannabis, permits adults age 21 or older to possess up to 3 ounces of it for recreational purposes, and makes it possible for people convicted of marijuana-related felonies to have their records wiped. According to the New York Times, Democrats in the State Assembly have been sponsoring legalization legislation since 2013, but their attempts had been unsuccessful because of disputes with Cuomo.
Where to Get Weed in New York
Despite the fact that New York has recently approved new legislation, authorized patients can now buy medical cannabis from state-regulated businesses that operate dispensaries around the state.
